Tasker Things

Taskers make Steam Engines - or at least they used to! Click on the photo for more, including the history of Tasker steam engines, photos of a 10-ton Tasker, and how to buy your own 4-inch scale model Tasker!

Taskers have a family crest (well not really, obviously, but someone wants to sell you one!)
Apparently dating back to the Essex Taskers of 1185, the House of Names website lets you know that some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: Dinah Tasker, who emigrated to Barbados in 1659; Thomas Tasker, who was sent to a plantation in Virginia in 1668; Thomas Tasker and John Tasker, who settled in Maryland in 1673 and 1674.

Tasker is a Virus! Yes, it's true - tasker.exe is a file associated with the mass mailer W32.Mydoom.R worm What does it do? W32.Mydoom.R@mm is a mass-mailing worm that uses its own SMTP engine to send itself to the email addresses that it finds on an infected computer. The email contains a spoofed From address. The subject and message body vary, and the attachment has a .bat, .cmd, .exe, .pif, .scr, or .zip extension. So tasker.exe is a known Virus! Tasker is a Garlic Press! Thanks to Peter Tasker Design in New Zealand, there are now a host of smartly designed gizmos carrying the Tasker brand.
